Female athletes worry for future after $2.8 billion NCAA settlement

As news of the $2.8 billion NCAA settlement broke at AthleteCon, college athletes Sydney Moore and Sabrina Ootsburg found themselves in a unique position. Surrounded by hundreds of their peers, they felt like the only ones who truly grasped the situation's gravity.

Moore recounted a conversation with a Division I football player, who exclaimed, "I’m about to get paid!" Her response was pointed: "Yes, you are about to get paid, and a lot of your women athlete friends are about to get cut."
