At least two dead as tornado destroys homes in northern Texas

  • A powerful tornado-producing thunderstorm hit northern Texas over the weekend, causing at least two deaths.

  • Emergency crews worked through Saturday night and Sunday to clear debris and reach affected properties, encountering difficulties due to blocked roads and downed utilities.
  • An EF-2 tornado, with peak winds of 135 mph (217 kph), was confirmed to have touched down in the Runaway Bay area.
  • The slow-moving supercell travelled southeast from near Wichita Falls, resulting in widespread power outages across the impacted regions.
