At Least 10 Dead in Massive Explosion at Shia Meeting Hall in Islamabad

Police and rescue teams rushed to the site immediately after the blast and launched relief and evacuation operations. The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Following the explosion, an emergency was declared at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, news agency PTI reported, citing local media.

This incident comes just days after a deadly clash between Pakistani security forces and the Balochistan Liberation Army, which resulted in significant casualties on both sides.

The Islamabad blast is the second such incident reported in the capital in recent months. In November, a suicide bombing shook Islamabad, killing 12 people.

Pakistan has long been grappling with a separatist insurgency in Balochistan, where armed groups frequently target security forces, foreign nationals, and non-local Pakistanis. The mineral-rich province, which borders Afghanistan and Iran, has witnessed renewed violence following a series of coordinated attacks, raising concerns over the country’s internal security situation.
