A former Aston Villa favourite has warned Everton that they face a relegation battle after falling to another disappointing home defeat.
Steven Gerrard 's side beat the Blues by the odd goal on Saturday afternoon, with Emi Buendia rippling the net with a looping header shortly before half-time.
The defeat leaves Everton only four points clear of the relegation zone, with both Norwich City and Newcastle United picking up wins this weekend which will boost their respective survival hopes.
On paper, the squad at Goodison Park should be good enough to avoid even being roped into a relegation scrap.
But Gabriel Agbonlahor has warned that having big-name players on the books does not mean a club is immune to the drop, as Newcastle learned in 2009.

The Magpies had the likes of Kevin Nolan, Michael Owen and Obafemi Martins in their squad, but failed to stay up and were relegated on the final day.
"I think [caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson ] will be worried, but I think he will look at his squad of players and they’ve got enough for me to stay up," Agbonlahor said on TalkSPORT after Everton's defeat.
"But they need to be getting points because you have seen big teams with quality players still get relegated.
"That Newcastle side that went down with Alan Smith, Nicky Butt, Kevin Nolan, that team went down with great players.
"They need a win as soon as possible, their next game, they need three points.
"Tough games, no game is easy in the Premier League. Watford probably thought on Friday night, 'Yeah this is a game we will get our clean sheet, we beat Norwich and we go up the table,' nope, you lose 3-0.
"There's no guaranteed wins in this league anymore and if I am an Everton fan, I am nervous.
"They need Richarlison to start getting the goals, Calvert-Lewin, they need him up to speed, they need Demarai Gray and Townsend scoring, Doucoure.
"It's scary down there, say if they lose to Newcastle or lose to Leeds, it's giving them three points to catch you up, nervous times for Everton fans."
Ferguson said after the game that he was under no illusions that Everton might be facing a relegation scrap if the poor results persist.
"I'm worried about the results definitely, we're slipping down there," he said.
"So am I worried? I think I wouldn't say that, but I'm certainly concerned about where we are in the league table, I think we have got to be, haven't we?"
