The Gunners have had the perfect start to the new Premier League season, winning all five of their opening games. Whilst there’s great optimism at the club, there’s a little bit of doubt over whether they have enough depth to sustain a top-four challenge.
Injuries to Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny mean they’re already looking light in the midfield, but with hours left in the window, Edu and co. are looking to add to Arteta’s squad.
Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz is the name being touted with a move to the Emirates. With just one year left on his contract and the player known to be keen on a move away from Villa Park, the midlands-based side may be forced into a sale.

However, Villa wants to bring somebody in before agreeing to a deal with Arsenal. Luckily, they’re closing in on a midfielder of their own. According to David Ornstein at The Athletic, the Villains have had a £12.9million bid accepted for Wolves star Leander Dendoncker.
Although it’s unclear whether Dendoncker is being signed solely to replace Luiz, the report adds that Arsenal are preparing a bid for the Brazilian.
The Gunners have been monitoring the 24-year-old for some time, but there’s still a lot to do before people can call him an Arsenal player. He would become their sixth signing of the window, following the arrivals of Marquinhos, Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira, Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
