Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard gives Aaron Ramsey's Rangers move seal of approval as message sent to fans

Aaron Ramsey's Rangers move has been given the seal of approval by former Gers boss Steven Gerrard.

Yesterday, Wales star Ramsey signed a loan deal with the Ibrox club until the end of the season in one of most sensational moves in Scottish football history.

A host of Premier League clubs had been chasing the Juventus outcast, who had been edging towards the exit door in Turin after being frozen out by boss Massimiliano Allegri.

Newcastle United, Wolves, Burnley and Crystal Palace had all been in the mix, along with Gerrard's Aston Villa, who made a late play for the 31-year-old, according to Italian reports.

Ramsey took to social media to send a message to Rangers supporters following his signing.

"Really excited to have joined this massive club," he wrote on Instagram.

"Thank you for the warm welcome @rangersfc fans. Can’t wait to get out there, let’s go…"

Villa boss Gerrard replied to his post saying "Good luck mate" with a strong arm emoji.

Ramsey explained why he headed to Scotland and Rangers when he was announced as a new signing late on Monday night.

“I am really pleased to be joining a club like Rangers, where there is so much to look forward to between now and May," Ramsey said.

“I had a number of offers on the table, but none matched the magnitude of this club, with European football and the chance to play in front of 50,000 fans every other week.

“I have had some fantastic conversations with the manager and Ross Wilson, and I’m really looking forward to working with both of them, and to meeting the supporters.”

Ramsey could make his debut for his team in the Old Firm derby against Celtic on Wednesday night.
