Aston Villa boss makes transfer claim about Nottingham Forest star Keinan Davis

Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard says Nottingham Forest loanee Keinan Davis has been attracting attention ahead of the summer transfer window.

The striker has made a big impression at the City Ground since making the move on the opening day of the January transfer window. And it seems those performances haven’t gone unnoticed. Davis has put in some outstanding performances and scored five goals for the Reds amid their promotion push. Forest were dealt a blow last Friday, however, as the 24-year-old suffered a hamstring injury in the 1-0 defeat at Luton Town.

It is expected to rule him out for about four to five weeks, meaning he is likely to miss the remainder of the regular season. But there is a chance he could return for the play-offs, should Steve Cooper’s side get there.

Davis has already said he would be open to staying Trentside beyond his loan. However, with Norwich City also said to be interested, Gerrard has warned that the front man could have a significant price tag on his head.

Speaking about Davis and fellow loanee Cameron Archer, who is at Preston North End, the Villa manager told the Daily Mirror: “Ryan (Lowe, Preston boss) phoned me and asked for him (Archer) back next season.

"I told him to tell Peter Ridsdale to get his noughts out if he's wanting him on a full-time basis! I also said that he won't be available for a loan, because the idea of the loan is to give him some experience to get him back in the group and to have a positive pre-season.

"I want more forward options in the No.9 position, if you like, so we'll analyse Cam in pre-season and we'll make the decision from there. He's a big, bright prospect here. Ryan's done a good job with him.

“Preston have given him a really good opportunity but everyone wants Cam Archer and everyone wants Keinan Davis. Good players cost an awful lot of money."
