Aston Martin's Sim Racing Rig Costs as Much as a New BMW M3

We enjoy sitting down for some sim racing action as much as anyone. Some of us at Motor1 even have our own racing cockpits, decked out for comfortable hours-long sessions on PC or gaming consoles. None are as snazzy as this carbon-fiber Aston Martin cockpit, but then again, we didn't drop $75,000 to build our rigs.

That's the minimum price you'll pay to put this Aston Martin AMR-C01-R racing cockpit in your garage. For comparison, you could have a Toyota Supra with a set of dedicated track tires and money to spare. You could buy a new Subaru BRZ, a bunch of go-fast parts, and a nice trailer to tow it. Or you could just buy a new Porsche 718 Cayman before they go all-electric. Even a BMW M3 is comparable, with its $76,700 starting price. So yeah, this cockpit is crazy expensive, especially for one that has no motion capability. It just sits there.

Admittedly, it looks really good. Designed and built by Curv Racing Simulators, it's made of carbon fiber (of course) and features "a revised seating position inspired by the Aston Martin Valkyrie." It also wears an Aston Martin grille and has a bank of controls, including a switch panel and a cool steering wheel. Curv doesn't specify if the wheel offers any force feedback, but the seat is at least adjustable to better accommodate taller gamers.

The cockpit comes fully equipped for action, though you won't find a triple monitor setup. It uses a single 49-inch curved monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time, which means the graphics should look pretty crisp. That's further helped by an NVIDIA RTX 5090 video card, which is currently the must-have tech for the PC crowd. That card alone sells for around $3,000, if you can find one. Still, it's a drop in the bucket compared to this rig's sticker price.

If this all seems familiar, the AMR-C01-R is an upgrade to Curv's previous Aston Martin cockpit launched in 2020. That one sold out, so there are buyers willing to shell out big money for a posh Aston-branded setup. Only 50 of the models will be built, configurable in a range of interior and exterior colors on Curv's website. Initial deliveries will begin in April.
