Update 0.5 is available for Assetto Corsa EVO, pushing the Early Access program ahead with a nice mix of content and improvements. Headlining the update are seven additional cars, two circuits and a round of changes meant to make everyday online racing feel a bit easier to jump into. A key update to the Daily Racing Portal now lets drivers select their own car before heading out to compete.
Physics and handling have been tuned, DLSS has been bumped up to version 4.5 and both the UI and HUD have been cleaned up to give everything a smoother look while on the track. The garage grows with the 1993 Audi Sport quattro, BMW M2, Caterham Seven 485 CSR Final Edition, Dallara EXP, Porsche 911 GT3 RS from the 992 era, a tuned Toyota AE86 and the classic Volkswagen Golf. Watkins Glen International and Circuit Paul Ricard join the rotation, each offering four layouts.
Free Camera mode has been added, allowing players to move around the car and the track during replays, setting up new viewpoints and making it much simpler to capture screenshots or clips of those moments worth saving through outside tools. Check out the trailer and full patch notes below.
Gameplay/MP
- Removed game mode selector page on game startup, it now directly loads into Open Mode – Career mode has been disabled
- Previous Career mode purchased cars should now show up under “My Cars” in Open Mode
- Gain-based track cut logic:
When cutting, there’s a gain evaluation, if there is no gain, there is no warning, if there is a gain, the player has 500 metres to give up the gain, if this fails, the player is given a warning/time penalty/DT/SG/DSQ depending on the severity of the remaining unserved time gain, a widget helps the player determine whether time is being given up or not - Fixed crash when restarting certain special events
- Next step of SimGrid daily racing: car selection is now based on mechanical variants, customized player cars are also checked for eligibility
In place of the previous direct join, the connection flow has been shifted back to the ingame server browser so that players can choose their preferred visual configuration or livery - Fixed a car customization logic issue that allowed self-exclusive optional items to overlap in some cases
- Fix for ability to start and finish timed lap in session overtime
- Fixed a bug in AI fuel estimation
- Added possibility to deviate from the global track limit rules on a per corner basis
the target is to have more natural feeling track limits and not penalizing players where they already lose time by stretching the limits (e.g. gravel traps on corner exits)
