Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced star once alleged Ubisoft threatened to sue him over his remake tease, but now it's been turned into official promo

After Ubisoft allegedly threatened to sue Edward Keyway actor Matt Ryan due to an Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced leak, the company is now using the slip up as part of its marketing for the remake.

It's no stretch to say that the Assassin's Creed: Black Flag remake is potentially the worst-kept secret in gaming history, with leaks for the game being pretty widespread even as far back as a year ago. One of the biggest, however, happened when a fan met Ryan at the Nightmare Weekend convention last May, with Ryan asking them if they'd beaten the game, before adding: "Well you might have to beat it again." About a month later, another fan asked about it, and Ryan revealed he was unaware he was being recorded on the previous occasion and alleged that "the company threatened to sue me."

However, Ubisoft can't be too upset about it now, as the official Ubi-AssassinsCreed account on Reddit has now posted a short video featuring Ryan once again signing something and asking, "Have you beat the game?" This time, though, after saying "you might have to beat it again," he shows the release date of Resynced, while doubling down: "You're gonna have to beat it again."

Granted, this isn't the first time Ubisoft has joked about its own leaks. As we entered 2026, the company went all in on the fact everyone already knew, using the San Andreas classic "Ah, shit, here we go again" in response to a new leak. And, when it was finally time to announce the game, they dubbed it its worst-kept secret.
