A new study, presented recently at the ESC Congress 2023 has found that at the two-year follow-up, those who had stopped taking aspirin had a 29% higher likelihood of a recurrent heart attack, stroke, or death; at 4-year follow up the risk increased to 40%.
A study published in JAMA has found that taking aspirin regularly can reduce the risk of a second heart attack. It found that only about 40% of those who have a cardiovascular event take aspirin. For the study, a total of 124,505 participants from 51 nations participated. In high-income countries like the US, only 6.5% of patients use aspirin.
