Popular streamer Asmongold has been banned from Twitch for one week after the streamer made a controversial remark about third-world citizens.
In a post on X, the creator confirmed the length of the ban and accepted that he was suspended, saying: “Banned for an entire week because I said I don’t give a f**k about the opinions of illiterate third worlders.”
Asmongold claims a double standard in Twitch’s moderation
In the same post, Asmongold saw a double standard in Twitch’s enforcement. He compared his comment to a hypothetical scenario, claiming that kind of remark made by an American about the Middle East would not result in a suspension.
“Would someone be banned for saying they don’t care about what an American’s opinion is on the Middle East?”Of course not,” he said, calling it a “blatant double standard” and insisting he didn’t break ToS (Terms of Service).
Twitch hasn’t publicly commented on the ban at the time of writing, and the exact violation listed on his account has not been shared.

The community is divided over the remark and ban
Some users on X are backing Asmongold, agreeing that platforms can be inconsistent when enforcing rules on offensive or politically charged comments. One user commented, “At this rate, Twitch will find any reason, however small, to issue a ban.”
Another user blames Twitch for the ban: “It’s not a double standard. Their standards are anti-white.
They’ll use every opportunity to ban you because you’re a White man who isn’t anti-white enough.”
Others argue the streamer’s remark targets a broad group of people and crosses a line that should fall under ToS, regardless of who says it. One user commented, “You are a bad person with a large platform, stop spreading hate throughout the whole Twitch community. Grow the f**k up, actually get on the streets, see what’s happening in your f**king country. It’s ironic because you are illiterate with shitty opinions.”
Another user said, “Fair. Next. Maybe next time, don’t be a racist.”
What this ban could mean for Asmongold’s future streams

Asmongold’s weeklong ban means his main Twitch channel will be offline for several days, but it’s unlikely to end his streaming career. He has weathered controversies before, and he remains one of the most recognizable faces in MMO and variety streaming, with a loyal following that tends to stick with him, regardless of drama.
Still, the wording of this incident and the heated response around it may put more attention on how he talks about viewers from different regions going forward.
For Twitch, they could use this incident as a benchmark for next time, when and if a big streamer pushes the boundaries of acceptable speech on the platform. Asmongold’s ban is just one piece of a much larger OTK story, as Mizkif’s defamation case against Emiru is still ongoing.
