Asics invites teams of up to six runners from around the world to compete in "Asics World Ekiden 2022", a virtual relay race that returns for its third successive year and is open to participants of all levels and abilities.
Taking its inspiration from Japanese running culture, the race challenges teams to complete a marathon distance over the course of six legs of varying distances from 5km to 10km.
Teams must pass their digital tasuki -- the narrow band of fabric used traditionally in Ekidens -- from one leg to the next, working together in the true spirit of Ekiden for the team to succeed.
The race uses the Asics Runkeeper app to help participants form their team, stay connected through training inspiration, and track their race progress via a live online leaderboard to see how they rank among fellow participants across a range of categories.
Running can be made anytime between tomorrow and Nov 22. Runners can also share their Ekiden journeys and be a part of the conversation using the #ASICSWorldEkiden.
Participants are not only getting to enhance their physical and mental health, they are also getting a chance to win total of 21 exciting prizes worth more than 90,000 baht from a special activity of the event.
In two previous years, the challenge brought together a combined 96,000 runners from around the world including legendary former and current athletes Yuki Kawauchi, Emma Bates, Beth Potter and Koen Naert.
Registrations can be made via asics.com until Nov 22, free of charge.
