
Major European stock indexes opened higher on Friday morning following major monetary policy decisions earlier in the week. The Bank of England held interest rates steady on Thursday, the Bank of Japan followed suit on Friday, and on Wednesday, the Federal Reserve cut its key rate by 25 basis points for the first time this year.
Shortly after Friday's opening, France’s CAC 40 was up 0.38% at 7,884.10, Germany's DAX rose 0.04% to 23,682.84, and the UK’s FTSE 100 ticked up 0.01% to 9,229.03.
