India’s historic archery breakthrough
The women’s recurve gold was one of the standout moments for India at the Games. Bhakat, Sharma and Mohod held their nerve against a South Korean side with a dominant record in the event. India had previously won bronze in the women’s recurve team event but had never reached the gold-medal summit before Friday.
The victory also added another archery gold to India’s campaign, with the country already winning titles in the men’s compound, women’s compound and mixed compound team events.
With the Asian Games entering their final stages, India’s medal tally continues to build across traditional strengths such as shooting, archery, athletics and kabaddi, alongside medals from several other disciplines.
