India’s medal campaign at the Asian Games 2026 will gather momentum on Sunday, with Indian athletes and teams competing across teqball, cricket, shooting and hockey.
Teqball: Two Medal Opportunities
Quimcy Joaquim Dsouza and Mohd Anas Imran Beg will compete in the mixed doubles bronze-medal match against Vietnam’s Gia Nghi Trinh and Hoang Minh Tan Nguyen.
The Indian pair previously lost to the Vietnamese duo in the quarter-finals and will now have another opportunity to finish on the podium.
Quimcy will also compete for a medal in the individual event, where she faces Japan’s Yuina Sakamoto in the bronze-medal match.
Cricket: India Women Face Bangladesh
The Indian women’s cricket team will take on Bangladesh in the semifinal as they aim to defend the gold medal won at the 2023 Asian Games.
Shooting: Focus on 10m Air Rifle
India will also be represented in the women’s 10m air rifle event, with Elavenil Valarivan, Sonam Uttam Maskar and Vidarsa K Vinod set to compete.
The Indian shooters will look to add to the country’s medal tally with another strong performance.
Hockey: Men and Women Begin Campaigns
India’s hockey campaign will also get underway on Sunday.
The Indian men’s team, placed in Pool A, will begin its campaign against Indonesia, while the women’s team, drawn in Pool B, will face Uzbekistan in their opening match.
With two teqball medal opportunities, a cricket semifinal, shooting action and the opening matches of both hockey teams, Sunday promises to be a busy day for the Indian contingent at the Asian Games 2026.
