Indian boxer Parveen Hooda won the women’s 65kg gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 on Friday, defeating Chinese Taipei’s Nien-chin Chen 3-2 in the final.
Parveen had booked her place in the final with a 5-0 victory over China’s Li Shu in the semi-final. She held her nerve in a closely fought title bout to claim gold and add another top medal to India’s tally.
Her victory came on a memorable day for Indian boxing, with Lovlina Borgohain also winning gold in the women’s 75kg category.

Lovlina, who celebrated her 29th birthday on Friday, defeated China’s Bao Ziyi 5-0 in the final at Nishio Gymnasium.
The Tokyo Olympic bronze medallist became only the second Indian woman boxer to win an Asian Games gold medal, joining legendary boxer Mary Kom on the list.
Lovlina dominated the bout after a closely contested opening round. She won the first round 3-2 before taking the second and third rounds by 4-1 margins.
Four judges scored the final 29-28 in Lovlina’s favour, while the fifth judge gave her a 30-27 score.
Lovlina had reached the final after edging past Kazakhstan’s Natalya Bogdanova 3-2 in a split decision in the semi-final. She had earlier secured her place in the medal rounds with a 5-0 quarter-final victory over Korea’s Seong Suyeon.
