NEW DELHI: Indian long distance runner Parul Chaudhary earned her second medal of the Asian Athletics Championships, a silver in the 5000m on the penultimate day of contests.
Chaudhary, who won gold in the 3000m steeplechase on Friday, finished second in the 5000m final in 15:52.35 seconds, trailing Yuma Yamamoto (15:51.16) of Japan.
Chaudhary, 28, holds the national record for the 5000m with a time of 15:10.35.
Ankita won bronze in 16:03.33, giving India two medals from the tournament.
Earlier, Kishan Kumar and KM Chanda won silver medals in the men's and women's 800m races, respectively, by running personal best performances.
Kumar finished second in 1:45.88 seconds, trailing Abubaker H Abdalla (1:45.53) of Qatar, while Chanda crossed the finish line in 2:01.58 seconds, trailing MK Dissanayaka (2:00.66) of Sri Lanka.
Kumar's previous personal best was 1:46.17, and Chanda matched her previous career best of 2:01.58.
