Asia Cup Super 4: Sadeera Samarawickrama helps Sri Lanka post 257/9 against Bangladesh

NEW DELHI: Sri Lanka battled their way to a total of 257 for nine against Bangladesh in an exciting Asia Cup Super 4 showdown on Saturday.

After being invited to bat by Bangladesh, Sri Lanka's batsmen showcased their skills, with Sadeera Samarawickrama leading the charge with a remarkable 93 off 72 balls. His innings featured eight boundaries and two sixes, providing the team with crucial momentum.

Kusal Mendis also played a crucial role, notching up a steady 50 from 73 deliveries. Opener Pathum Nissanka chipped in with a valuable 40 from 60 balls to contribute to Sri Lanka's total.

However, Bangladesh's bowlers fought back, with Hasan Mahmud taking three wickets for 57, Shoriful Islam claiming two for 48, and Taskin Ahmed securing three for 62. Together, they managed to grab eight wickets, putting a brake on Sri Lanka's scoring and keeping the match competitive.
