Ashley Williams and Danny Gabbidon wear Welsh bucket hats on live TV just moments after Wales secure World Cup place

As 64 years of waiting came to an end with Wales qualifying for the 2022 World Cup, it was perhaps unsurprising that virtually all in attendance couldn't help but get swept up by the occasion.

That went for Sky Sports' pundits and former Wales internationals Ashley Williams and Danny Gabbidon, too, with the pair donning Wales-themed bucket hats on TV just moments after Rob Page's men secured their place at this year's World Cup in Qatar with a 1-0 win over Ukraine.

As the television cameras cut back to the Sky Sports studio from the action at Cardiff City Stadium, the pair could be seen grinning from ear to ear with the hat which has become the headwear of choice for Welsh football fans.

"I've been after one of these for ages," joked Gabbidon. "They're like gold dust, trust me!"

"I'm surprised there are any spare, there's so many being worn out there," added Sky Sports presenter David Jones.

Wales ended a 64-year wait to reach a World Cup as they defeated Ukraine 1-0 in Cardiff.

A deflected Gareth Bale free-kick earned Rob Page's men victory in the play-off final at Cardiff City Stadium, meaning they will now be playing on the biggest international stage for only the second time in their history.
