Kasper Asgreen, representing the Soudal-Quick-Step team, emerged victorious in stage 18 of the Tour de France on Thursday. In an exciting finish, a breakaway group managed to hold off the charging peloton and crossed the finish line just meters ahead of the elite sprinters in Bourg-en-Bresse.
The stage took place on flat terrain, a welcome change after the challenging Alpine stages. A four-man group, including Asgreen, Pascal Eenkhoorn of Lotto-Dstny, Jonas Abrahamsen of Uno-X, and Victor Campenaerts, managed to stay ahead of the peloton in a long-range escape.
