Asda to offer children across Scotland a free warm breakfast this half-term

Asda has launched a new initiative that will see the supermarket serve thousands of free warm breakfasts to children this February half-term.

To help tackle hunger as the cost of living crisis still continues to soar, the supermarket chain has launched a partnership with Quaker Oats to offer children a free bowl of porridge during the school holiday period.

The deal will be served between 8am to 12pm everyday from February 9 to February 22 at every Asda cafe across the UK - and there is no minimum adult spend required.

The supermarket giant has said that it estimates that the partnership with the popular brand will enable over 50,000 bowls of porridge to be served to children across the country.

Asda's latest initiative means that families with little ones can now access a free breakfast and main meal for £1 after it extended its 'Kids Eat For £1' offer at its cafes until the end of March.

Kris Comerford, Asda's Chief Commercial Officer says: "We know when families are preparing for the school holidays it can often mean an additional strain on household budgets – especially feeding and entertaining their children. We remain as committed as ever to supporting our customers in tackling these tough times.

"Our café initiatives continue to provide a lifeline for over 1.5 million customers since we launched them last year, and we hope by offering a free warm breakfast in the February half term, it will help support many more in the coming weeks."

Divesh Parmar, General Manager, Quaker Oats UK, says: "It's so important that everyone has access to breakfast to start the day which is why we're partnering with Asda to provide free Quaker Oats porridge to children this half term. This initiative, alongside our new Share the Warmth campaign, means we can play a small part in getting a warm, nutritious breakfast to people who really need it this winter."

It is the latest money-saving effort by the grocery giant to help out families and households during the cost of living crisis.

The supermarket chain has also previously launched 'Winter Warmer' initiatives that included offering anyone aged 60 and over a bowl of soup, roll and cup of coffee for just £1.

Asda's free warm breakfast initiative with Quaker Oats will run at Asda cafes between 8am to 12pm from February 9 to February 22. Shoppers can check for their local Asda cafe in their shop finder.
