Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's give update on home deliveries as Storm Eunice hammers Wales

Supermarkets have issued updates on their home deliveries as Storm Eunice hammers Wales.

The Met Office upgraded the alert to a rare red across parts of Wales as the storm brings strong winds and difficult driving conditions. The warning is in place from 7am until 12pm on Friday, February 18.

It has also seen major supermarkets make adjustments to their grocery home delivery services. Some warn that cancellations might happen, while others said no disruption is expected.

Here's what might happen if you're expecting a food shop delivery on Friday:

Tesco

The store is monitoring Met Office advice and the latest information on the adverse weather.

A spokeswoman said decisions will be made locally to keep colleagues safe, however every effort will be made to minimise disruption to customers and deliveries.

Asda

A spokesman for ASDA said "employee safety was their number one priority and the delivery service was performing as normal".

Sainsbury's

Despite the weather warning no disruption to home deliveries has been declared, a spokeswoman for Sainsbury's said.

However, she said "safety is our highest priority and we're monitoring the situation closely"

They said: "All of our drivers have dedicated procedures and training for adverse weather conditions.

"We’re also not willing to take any risks where the safety of our colleagues is concerned and so on the rare occasions where extreme weather impacts our delivery service, we would prioritise elderly and vulnerable customers and make arrangements for all of our impacted customers where that’s necessary."

Iceland

The store has been contacted for comment.

Morrisons

A Morrisons spokesman said: "Throughout Storm Dudley and in anticipation of Storm Eunice, we are creating extra time for our drivers to make deliveries safely across impacted regions, and will cancel routes if required for safety."

Ocado

The delivery service has been contacted for comment.
