Asda supermarket launches new salt and pepper chicken dish produced by Ayrshire butcher

An Ayrshire butcher’s new range which includes a ‘chip shop curry’ chicken stir fry dish is set to hit the shelves of a major supermarket.

We hae meat have sealed a deal to bring four new products to retail giant Asda.

The Girvan-based multi-award winning family farming and butcher business have launched three chicken stir fires and an Aberdeen Steak Slice.

Customers have been promised their favourite takeaway at home with the three new chicken stir fry flavours of oriental style salt and pepper chicken, garlic and chilli chicken, and the chip shop curry inspired creation.

Meanwhile the Aberdeen Angus Steak Slice has been promised as a game changer in reducing food waste, with the reduced sized packet ideal for smaller households.

Craig Chalmers, national account manager at We hae meat said: “Our brand-new butchers style chicken stir fry products have been developed with customer convenience in mind.

“Produced using UK assured Red Tractor chicken, the stir fries are super easy to prepare, allowing customers to recreate their favourite takeaway all from the comfort of their own home.

“The stir fries are the latest addition to our Ready to Cook range, and we are confident they will offer customers great quality and value.

“The Aberdeen Angus Steak Slice has been developed to offer a new pack format of a traditional We hae meat favourite – perfect for smaller households. Produced using PGI Scotch approved Beef, it is the most premium quality square sausage on the market.

“With an increase in smaller households, and a real focus on food waste reduction, this is a really relevant addition to our range.

“As farmers and butchers, we offer full farm to fork traceability and are proud to provide customers with only the best ingredients in our products - our stir fries and Aberdeen Angus Steak Slice are no exception.

“As our first ever retail customer, we are delighted Asda shoppers will be the first to get a taste of our new products.”

We hae meat has gone from humble beginnings in the South Ayrshire town to securing their first major deal with Asda in 2008. The butcher now supplies 12 products into Asda stores across Scotland.

Ashley Connolly, Asda’s regional buying manager Scotland, added: “Our relationship with We hae meat has gone from strength to strength over the years, and it’s been wonderful to see the company grow with us.

“We’re very proud to introduce four new lines to shelves across Scotland from a local supplier. We know our shoppers are going to love the new additions.”
