Asda South Wales stores in Birds Eye product recall amid contamination fears

Asda stores in South Wales are the subject of a product recall amid fears that a popular food item has become contaminated.

The UK's Food Standards Agency says that Birds Eye recalled a product yesterday (20 December). It is feared some of its burgers may contain small pieces of red plastic, making them unsafe to eat.

The affected batch of Birds Eye Original 4 Beef Quarter Pounders with Onion was sold at Asda stores in South Wales and South West England. The company will ensure that point of Sale of will be displayed in all stores that sold the batch.

They advise customers that have already bought the product to not consume it, and instead return it to their nearest store where they will be entitled to a full refund. The product has the batch code L2343DB124, weighs 454g and has best bnefore of March 2024.

The Food Standards Agency said: "If you have purchased the above product do not eat it, instead please return it to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund.

"For further information, please contact Birds Eye UK at www.birdseye.co.uk/contact-us or on 0800 088 5573 (Freephone)."
