ASDA's new Easter-themed pizza has shoppers confused

Asda is once again getting into the Easter spirit and has even designed a new pizza to mark the season. However, following its launch this month, shoppers have been left a little confused as to what it actually supposed to be.

Sharing a picture of the design on its social accounts, the supermarket’s new Easter range was met with laughter by other users as they tried to make out what it is.

The new chick shaped pizza from Asda has caused quite a stir on social media (ASDA)

One said it looked like like 'Frankenstein with a Mohawk’ with another adding that they ‘genuinely thought it was a South Park character.’

User Charlie also thought it looked like “Butters from South Park”, while Nicole spotted one in store and said: “I picked it up the wrong way and thought it was the Snapchat ghost.”

Ami compared it to “Casper the friendly ghost” while Mandy suggested it looked like “Darth Vader doing a headstand.”

While many users poked fun at the new design, Asda wanted to lay all the rumours to rest and confirmed the shape of its new Easter pizza is, of course, a chick.

The pizza expands on its novelty range which includes a chick cheesecake and chick cake jar.

You can find the chick £3.50 pizza at in-store pizza counters and online, it is available from now until April 6. It is the latest addition to the retailer’s pizza counter offering - and long line of novelty shapes - and follows the success of its heart-shaped pizza last month for Valentine’s Day.

An Asda spokesperson said: “Following amusing comments online we can confirm that our latest pizza counter offering is in the shape of an adorable Easter chick and is an extension of our novelty Easter range which includes other chick inspired items.

"We know how popular our pizza counters are with customers and we want to keep surprising customers so they can get into the spirit with a fun novelty treat. With the clocks set to go forward, we look forward to lighter nights going into spring and we can all use a little chick-me-up(!)

“We hope that kids and grown-ups alike will love tucking into the chick-shaped pizza with their families.”
