Asda praised over inclusive kids clothing range with holes for feeding tubes

Asda has been praised by shoppers for a hidden detail in its George clothing range for children - which caters specifically to those who rely on a feeding tube.

Children's nurse Kirsty Lewis was among those giving a solid round of applause to the supermarket's range in a post on Twitter this week, where she said she was "so pleased" to see Asda championing "inclusivity" for all children "no matter their medical need".

The range, named Easy On, features long sleeve tops, sweatshirts, and dresses which all have a small hole in the front that's designed to fit a feeding tube.

In her post on Twitter, Kirsty - who posts under the username @kirstylou30 - shared a picture of one of the dresses in the Easy On range, and wrote: "So pleased to see this today- Asda catering for children with a feeding tube! All little princesses deserve a twirly dress! Applause to @Georgeatasda. Inclusivity for all our CYP no matter their medical need."

And her post attracted comments from several others who also praised Asda for its inclusive line.

One person wrote: "As someone who worked in care (adults) this is an amazing thing! To see more acceptance and assistance from big players is good! Thanks @asda"

While another said: "Honestly this will make a very real positive difference to people with feeding tubes."

And a third posted: "Please make these in adult sizes too @asda @Georgeatasda. I have a feeding tube and want jumpsuits, dresses etc but can't due to my tubes. Great you're finally doing it for kids though!"

Several others have asked for Asda to start stocking similar clothes for adults who need feeding tubes, and the supermarket chain has been quick to respond on Twitter to assure them that their feedback has been passed on.

Replying to one person, the Adsa Service Team account wrote: "We sincerely appreciate your feedback and I've passed it onto the relevant team. Do have a lovely evening."

Asda's Easy On range doesn't just include clothes with feeding tube accessibility either, as it also caters to any children who need easy fastenings or pull-on styles.

A description of the range on the supermarket's website reads: "Easy On Easy Wear. Clothing designed to support independent dressing, as well as being sensory kind for extra comfort. Designed with the help and feedback from our customers, to make sure that clothing is not a difficult part of your day.

"Our range features easy fastenings and pull-on styles where possible to support independence. For those who are sensory sensitive, we have removed all care labels and changed them to printed care instructions, as well as using soft threads and elastics, and non-bulky seams."

The clothes in the range are available in a variety of sizes, ranging from 3-4 Years up to 15-16 Years.

A pack of three long-sleeved tops is priced from £12, while the dresses start at £9 and the sweatshirt and jogging bottoms sets begin at £14.

Each item is more expensive in bigger sizes, so while the pink dress featured in Kirsty's tweet is £9 for 3-4 Years, it goes up to £12 when bought in a size designed for 15-16 Years.
