An Nottingham ASDAhas fenced off part of the side section of the store following incidents of anti-social behaviour. Fences were put up at the Hyson Green supermarket alongside Noel Street following more incidents of unwanted behaviour.
It comes after previous reports of groups gathering to drink alcohol and take drugs in the area. Neighbours have previously shared concerns about leaving their homes after sunset due to the people gathering.
Site manager James Dorree said they have been asked to fence up the area following concerns for the staff safety. He added: "There is a lot of graffiti, human waste and needles. It is not the safest environment for the staff at ASDA.
"This is a place for staff to come here when they need a break." An ASDA Spokesperson added: "Following reports of anti-social behaviour, we have cordoned off a small area outside of our Hyson Green store.
"Ensuring our customers have the best possible shopping experience is a top priority, so we will continue to work closely with the local authorities to tackle anti-social behaviour." A new police hub opened in the area during November 2021 to help tackle the issues around the store.
The hub is funded by ASDA, and is regularly used by community protection officers to monitor issues and reassure shoppers with a police presence in the area.
