A supermarket customer has left other shoppers shocked after sharing the hack she uses on Asda's self-checkout tills. A Tik Tok user with the username @bethanyjade_st shared a video of how she pays with coins at the self-service till, which can often be quicker for customers wanting to make smaller purchases.
However, the small coin slot can sometimes be a struggle, with customers having to count out their money and put the coins in one by one. In the video Bethany showed viewers how she doesn't pop the coins into the slot like most of us do, and instead lifts up the black plastic surrounding to reveal a larger funnel that coins can be dispensed into reports The Daily Record.
Sharing the hack online, she said: "I was today years old when I found out this life hack. Just lift the flap and let it count your money! I love this hack and need to share it."

It's not clear if this hack is only for Asda self check-out tills or if it works at all supermarkets. After uploading the video, Bethany was flooded with comments from other shoppers that were stunned by the hack and thanking her for the clever tip that they never knew they needed.

One commented: "Oh my goodness - I never knew. Your level of quality work is excellent." However, despite being met with many comments of praise, not everyone was a fan of the hack.
Some shoppers were concerned that using this hack could jam the machine. One user wrote: "This can literally break the machine. Don't do it."
Bethany replied: "Recently found this out, and apparently it's how the people that work there fill it up with coins too." However, the same commenter argued: "It's really not trust me, I did Sainsbury's for nearly 6 years. Doing this jams them."
Other shoppers added that just using contactless was a "much better hack" and that "cash is so old school now". Another viewer mentioned that if you put in a couple of pennies less than the value of your shopping and then press "cancel payment" shoppers will get their change back in silver coins or notes.
