Asda staff who are paid by the hour will be given the option to take an extra paid day off for the King's official Coronation next month, but in-turn, they must volunteer for a charity cause.
The Walmart counterpart has announced that staff who are scheduled to work May 8 can request a paid day off, in order to help participate in the Big Help Out.
The campaign is a national day dedicated to volunteering to mark the Coronation, with more than 1,500 charities supporting the nationwide scheme.

The Mirror reports that any Asda staff who want to volunteer can request to book the day off, and it will not affect their annual holiday entitlement. Staff on the other hand who opt to work through the Bank Holiday following King Charles III's big day will be awarded double pay for their shifts.
Asda are currently advertising details of the numerous Big Help Out events and other local volunteering opportunity via community boards across its 600 UK outlets. Staff will also be able to find local initiatives through the Big Help Out app, which can be downloaded through Google Play and the App Store.
Volunteering staff will have to complete a form detailing the volunteer work which they will undertake, as well as how many hours will be spent doing so to achieve the extra holiday.
Asda will also bring together more than 380 Community Champions from across the UK to 'make a difference to their area'. They will do this by arranging litter picks in public spaces like parks, community centres, beaches and canals across the Bank Holiday.
Asda will also gift ten Coronation-inspired community projects funding for events taking place across the weekend, as well as those which are ongoing. Volunteering groups may apply for the funding via Asda's Foundation - with successful parties being contacted in the coming weeks.
Hayley Tatum, Asda's chief people and corporate affairs officer, Hayley said the supermarket was 'proud' to be supporting the Big Help Out campaign.
She said: "We understand that this is an incredibly important event for many of our colleagues, and they want to get involved, which is why we’re offering them the opportunity to take a day off to support their local area, without needing to use their holiday entitlement.
“We are also saying thank you to those colleagues who do choose to work on Monday, May 8 by offering them a double time payment as a thank you for their continued efforts to serve our customers over the Bank Holiday weekend.”
