Supermarket chain Asda have been accused of exploiting female shop staff by giving them a smaller pay rise than male colleagues.
The GMB Scotland union has hit out after a recent increase in the hourly rate workers receive highlighted differences between people who work in stores and in distribution centres, the Daily Record reports.
At the start of the month, Asda retail staff - mostly woman - were given a 3.6 per cent increase in pay, taking them to £9.66 an hour. Warehouse workers, who are mostly men, are continuing to demand more after rejecting an offer of between 6.5 and 7.5 per cent that would have increased their hourly rate to £11.98.
