Royal Ascot's international theme continues when Shahryar goes for gold in the Prince Of Wales's Stakes.
Day one of the meeting saw crack Australian sprinter power away from the home team for a memorable win in the King's Stand.
And on Wednesday, it is the turn of Japan's stayer, trained by Hideaki Fujiwara. Berkshire is the next stop on the four-year-old's trip to conquer the top 1m 4f races, after he struck in the Dubai Sheema Classic at Meydan.
Training out of Roger Varian's stable in Newmarket, connections have been pleased with Shahryar's preparation for his first start since March. Yasuhiro Matsumoto, manager of the horse's breeding operation Northern Farm, said: "We had plans to bring Shahryar for international races. As a result, Dubai was the first and that experience should be very much a benefit to the horse coming to Royal Ascot.
“As a horseman, I want to win races in the UK with Japanese horses. It is a dream and a real honour for us to have runners at Royal Ascot."
Bay Bridge, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, is favoured by the market on the back of a clear-cut Group 3 success at Sandown.
Runners and race-by-race tips for day two of Royal Ascot 2022
2.30 – Queen Mary Stakes
1 All The Time
2 Carmela
3 Dramatised
4 Funny Money Honey
5 Grand Oak
6 Katey Kontent
7 Lady Beano
8 Lady Tilbury
9 Lost Angel
10 Love Reigns
11 Manhattan Jungle
12 Maria Branwell
13 Maylandsea
14 Miami Girl
15 Olivia Maralda
16 Omniqueen
17 One More Olly
18 Primrose Ridge
19 Queen Of Deauville
20 The Platinum Queen
21 Yahsat
WIN BET: KATEY KONTENT shrugged off a penalty at Windsor and Clive Cox, who has trained the winner of this before, often finds a smart juvenile performer. The chestnut filly did all that was asked of her on that occasion, showing a nice turn of foot and her likeable attitude will stand her in good stead here with big crowds in attendance.
EACH-WAY SELECTION: YAHSAT was just run out of it in a Listed race at York and looks value to make the frame. The winner, a stablemate of the value pick, is a nice sort and the pair pulled clear. Dramatised is first choice from the Karl Burke team and appeals most of the favourites.
3.05 – Queen's Vase (Group 2)
1 Al Qareem
2 Anchorage
3 Baltic Bird
4 Eldar Eldarov
5 Green Team
6 Hafit
7 Nahanni
8 Ruler Legend
9 Zechariah
10 Emotion
11 Perfect Alibi
12 Typewriter
WIN BET: Take two for this competitive renewal. ELDAR ELDAROV is at the top of the list. His form has been boosted by a subsequent nine-length winner and this longer distance should not be a problem. NAHANNI is second choice, after his Derby seventh. He is a hardy, thorough stayer with a touch of class and must have come out of that run very well to turn up here.
3.40 – Prince Of Wales's Stakes (Group 1)
1 Bay Bridge
2 Lord North
3 Shahryar
4 State Of Rest
5 Grand Glory
WIN BET: Bay Bridge is not as far ahead of ratings than his price indicates and SHAHRYAR can have his measure. Several winners have come out of the Sheema Classic, where he put in a professional performance on his first run outside of Japan. He is entitled to improve for that experience and fast ground will bring out the best in him – and Cristian Demuro is a good jockey to have on your side to make the most of this shorter trip.
4.20 – Duke of Cambridge Stakes (Group 2)
1 Saffron Beach
2 Sibila Spain
3 Bashkirova
4 Kennella
5 Mother Earth
6 Novema
7 Primo Bacio
8 Thunder Beauty
WIN BET: SAFFRON BEACH has the natural ability to confirm Sun Chariot form with Mother Earth. She was three lengths in front on that occasion and can overcome the 5lb turnaround with that rival. Her fourth in the Dubai Turf in March was a respectable effort and this is easier against her own sex.
5.00 – Royal Hunt Cup
1 Magical Morning
2 Escobar
3 Sinjaari
4 Intellogent
5 San Andreas
6 Symbolize
7 Bopedro
8 Humanitarian
9 Astro King
10 Greatgadian
11 Tempus
12 Bless Him
13 Aratus
14 Cruyff Turn
15 Desert Peace
16 Etonian
17 Isla Kai
18 Lunar Space
19 Fantastic Fox
20 Excel Power
21 Notre Belle Bete
22 Rebel Territory
23 What's The Story
24 Legend Of Dubai
25 Percy's Lad
26 Totally Charming
27 Dark Shift
28 Via Serendipity
29 Real Force
30 Hortzadar
WIN BET: SYMBOLIZE is just the consistent sort needed for a big handicap. Andrew Balding's charge has run a number of good races at Ascot, including two places behind the smart Aldaary. Seventh in last year's Buckingham Palace Stakes, when the principals were on the opposite side of the track, he shapes as though he has a race like this in him with a similar effort.
EACH-WAY SELECTION: BOPEDRO took the Irish Cambridgeshire in the refitted headgear he has on today and should be spot on after two runs this term.
5.35 – Windsor Castle Stakes
1 Bolt Action
2 Chateau
3 Democracy Dilemma
4 Eddie's Boy
5 Edgar Linton
6 Far Shot
7 Finn Russell
8 Guiteau
9 Kaasib
10 Knebworth
11 Kuwait City
12 Little Big Bear
13 Mehmar
14 Ramazan
15 Rocket Rodney
16 Rocking Ends
17 Seismic Spirit
18 Silencer
19 Whistle And Flute
20 Wodao
21 Jumbeau
22 Star Of Lady M
23 Union Court
24 Yahtzee
WIN BET: FAR SHOT won the same maiden John Gosden used to introduce the 2016 winner of this race to the job. He gets the verdict from the form horse Little Big Bear.
6.10 – Kensington Palace Stakes
1 Non-runner
2 Angel Power
3 Dubai Love
4 Farhh To Shy
5 Neptune Rock
6 White Moonlight
7 Rosemary And Thyme
8 Rising Star
9 Pretty Sweet
10 Don't Tell Claire
11 Ffion
12 Non-runner
13 State Occasion
14 Talabaat
15 Serenading
16 Spirit Of The Bay
17 Haziya
18 Isola Rossa
19 Improvised
20 Random Harvest
21 Professional Widow
22 Celtic Empress
EACH-WAY SELECTIONS: DON'T TELL CLAIRE is around 25-1 but should not be overlooked for place purposes. From an in-form yard, who have a detailed way of training, the four-time winner has defeated rivals including State Occasion and Professional Widow. The display against the first-named was at this track, when they were identically rated. Now the selection is 1lb superior and she has improved throughout her career, so there might be a better effort on the way. She shaped as though she was in need of her comeback run here and is reunited with Jack Mitchell, aboard when she last scored at the track.
