As Derrick Henry Trade Rumors Pick Up, RB Remains ‘Happy’ With Titans

Ahead of the Titans‘ matchup against the Falcons on Sunday, rumors swirled that running back Derrick Henry could be on his way out of Tennessee.

That said, the Titans noted that they have no plans to trade the star tailback before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET trade deadline. Henry spoke on the matter after Sunday’s 28—23 win, similarly emphasizing he has no intention to leave the organization for which he’s played his entire NFL career.

“I’ve talked to [Titans GM Ran Carthon]. We’ve had talks, and I feel like everything’s going in a positive direction,” Henry said, via Jim Wyatt of the Titans’ official website. “I understand my position. The life span of it is not too long. I’m getting older. I ain’t getting no younger. But, at the end of the day, I know it’s a business and I understand that. ...

“I’m a Titan, and I’m happy to be a Titan. ... I am going to do everything I can to help this organization continue to win.”

Nevertheless, speculation around a possible Henry trade likely will continue until the trade deadline passes. One team told Fox Sports’s Jay Glazer that it thought its was still “in talks” with Tennessee regarding Henry, for instance. It’s unknown exactly which teams have been interested in acquiring the running back.

At 29, Henry is in his final year of his contract with the Titans. He ran for 101 yards on 22 carries during Sunday’s win over the Falcons, and he boasts 8,861 career rushing yards on 1,870 attempts over eight seasons with Tennessee.
