The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won 10 seats uncontested in the 60-member Arunachal Pradesh Assembly.
The party, however, fell short of the Congress record of 11 seats won unopposed in 2014.
While no Opposition parties fielded candidates in five constituencies, rivals of the BJP withdrew their nominations in five more by Saturday, the last day of withdrawal of candidature.
Among those who won uncontested were Chief Minister Pema Khandu from Mukto and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein from Chowkham.
The other winners are Ratu Techi from Sagalee, Jikke Tako (Tali), Nyato Dukam (Taliha), Mutchu Mithi (Roing), Hage Appa (Ziro-Hapoli), Techi Kaso (Itanagar), Dongru Siongju (Bomdila), and Dasanglu Pul (Hayuliang).

“...It’s all because of the people’s love and trust in #ModiKiGuarantee and our dedication in ensuring all-round development of the State,” Mr. Khandu wrote on X in celebration of the unopposed win of the 10 BJP candidates.
Later, he told journalists that the party was confident of bagging the remaining 50 Assembly seats and the two Lok Sabha seats in the State.
“We are confident that we will win the Arunachal East and Arunachal West Lok Sabha seats with a thumping majority because of the amount of love that we are getting from the people,” the Chief Minister said, attributing the support for the BJP to the “unprecedented” development in the State under 10 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
He also said the State has been used to uncontested electoral victories. Four candidates had won unopposed in 1999, one in 2004, three in 2009, 11 in 2014, and three in 2019.
