Artur Boruc in line for emotional Celtic reunion as Legia Warsaw consider farewell friendly

Legia Warsaw are believed to be considering a friendly with Celtic to give legendary keeper Artur Boruc the ultimate farewell.

The 42-year-old will leave the club this summer and is yet to announce whether he will retire from the game.

He was presented with a commemorative sword from fans in his homeland and is to be honoured with one final appearance in a friendly before the start of the new season.

Boruc made over 100 appearances across two spells for Legia and won two league titles almost 20 years apart.

And reports in Poland suggest Legia might approach Ange Postecoglou 's team to play a game against the Hoops, where he collected six major honours in a five-year spell before being transferred to Fiorentina 12 years ago.

However, it would depend whether relations between the clubs have healed after Legia were booted out of the Champions League qualifiers in 2014 despite winning 6-1 against Celtic on aggregate, after they fielded an ineligible player in a match played at Murrayfield.

Co-owner at the time, Dariusz Mioduski, insisted Celtic should have conceded the tie.

Boruc's last game for Legia and possibly in football, was in February in a relegation clash against Warta Poznan.

He was sent off for attacking Warta player Dawid Szymonowicz, after he impeded him from kicking the ball up the park.

He then shoved a cameraman who was filming him walking off the pitch and the Polish FA banned him for three games and fined him £5,000.

Now he will be hoping to make his final bow in front of Legia fans, with Celtic a possible opponent, depending on their hectic schedule.
