Artists to hold 'one last big event' at East Belfast studio

An artist collective based in East Belfast will hold one last big event in their studios before they have to leave next year.

The Vault Artist Studios on Tower Street has provided 110 artists with a space and opportunity to work on their crafts over the past four years and in the process have developed a lively community who are able to work with and support each other in everything that they do.

In March next year, the collective will have to find a new premises to call their home and they plan on celebrating their time together at the studios with a huge festival on Saturday, August 27, with over 50 unique events taking place.

The festival will feature everything from dance, music and visual art to circus performances and theatre.

The studio building itself will also be transformed into a giant piece of art with every space inside it being utilised to enhance the atmosphere.

Speaking to Belfast Live, Jacob Anderson of The Vault Artist Studios said: "Over the past four years we have been very lucky to have these studios where we have developed a lively community of amazing artists and performers.

"In March of next year we will have to leave the Studios and find a new home and ahead of that we want to do something that celebrates the time we have all had together here with one last big festival.

"There will be over 50 different events taking place throughout the day, some that will be large scale performances and others that will be very intimate, but you will be guaranteed to see multiple unique shows that will be like nothing you will have ever seen before.

"Throughout the day there will also be opportunities for our visitors to get involved in the fun with participatory events such as clay head modelling, AI influenced art creation, hula hoop classes, paper cutting arts session and swing dance!

"The festival is completely family friendly for the vast majority of the day, however we will be asking young children to leave from 7pm when we will have more adult shows taking place. Dogs are also welcome to join us, as long as they remain on a lead, and there will be food and drink available thanks to the American Bar and some local food vendors."

Vault Festival runs from 11am-11pm and tickets are £25 for over 18’s, £15 for under and £70 for a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids).
