An artistic family created a poignant teary Paddington Bear tribute to the Queen on a beach - made entirely from pebbles and shells. Ieva Slare, 50, spent five hours painstakingly constructing the image with the help of her family on Sandymere beach in Devon on Sunday [Sept 11].
The housekeeper, who has a degree in art, sketched the image of Paddington before the family, including husband Dzintars, 53, and children Emanuels, 14, and Elizabete, 12, scoured the beach for pebbles and shells. The artwork shows the famous bear in his blue duffle coat, raising his red hat while clutching a suitcase with a tear, made from a mussel shell, running down his cheek.
After spending hours creating the beach tribute the foursome, who sign their work 'Beach4Art', stayed at the beach to watch it being carried away by the tide. Ieva chose to use the character to pay tribute to the Queen in nod to her now infamous marmalade sandwich sketch with him in June as part of the jubilee celebrations.
