People seeking asylum displayed sculptures at a Liverpool exhibition a year in the making.
Run in partnership with Castle Fine Arts, the exhibition at Asylum Link in the former St Anne's presbytery on Overbury Street in Edge Hill, came after a year of weekly workshops. Five of the asylum seekers and volunteers who participated, some of whom had never sculpted before, exhibited bronze sculptures at the event on Monday, December 19.
Many of the sculptures on display touch on themes of loneliness, longing and depression, which many people experience while they're separated from their families, their lives on hold while they wait months or years for a decision on their asylum application.
