More than 100 rarely-seen art masterpieces from two private collections are presented during "Visual Dialogue" at Museum Pier in Bangkok, until Aug 2.
This is an opportunity for art lovers to witness what two top-tier collectors, Uthen Pattananipol and Piriya Vachajitpan, have chosen to put on show together. Their landmark showcase impressively reveals exceptional works of art from their treasured private collections.
The exhibition steps beyond the boundaries of geography, time and cultures, allowing each artwork to speak in its own visual language and inviting viewers to become part of the dialogue. This is a space where they can extend the meaning of each exhibit through their own experiences and imagination beyond the limits of any time. The exhibition was born from a friendship between the two collectors who met by chance on their way to Art Basel in Hong Kong. They discovered a shared passion for art, as well as their starkly different collecting philosophies.
Piriya focuses on works that trace the history of Thai art from past to present, while Uthen prioritises contemporary art and supports both emerging Thai talents and leading international artists.
This difference became the vital starting point for the exhibition, which brings works from different eras, cultures and contexts, placing them side by side for visitors to discover new connections for themselves.
It pairs masterpieces by renowned Thai artists such as Chakrabhand Posayakrit, Thawan Duchanee, Montien Boonma, Pratuang Emjaroen, Khrua In Khong and Silpa Bhirasri, with contemporary works by international artists including André Butzer, Christian Rex van Minnen, Alexander James, Jason Boyd Kinsella and Matías Sánchez.
Also unveiled are works that have rarely -- or never -- made public appearances. Some exhibits have been unseen for decades, while others have been preserved exclusively in private collections until now.
Museum Pier is located at ThaaChang Wangluang, Maharaj Road and opens daily from 10am to 6pm. The fee is 250 baht (150 baht for students).
