Arslan loses the plot as Glory beat Melbourne City 4-2

Banged up Melbourne City midfielder Tolgay Arslan has scored twice before being sent off after the final whistle in his team's dramatic 4-2 A-League Men loss to Perth Glory at HBF Park.

A lucky goal from Arslan handed City the early lead on Friday night, and he scored his second in the 60th minute following a horror defensive mistake from Giordano Colli.

But from 2-1 down, Glory shot out to a 3-2 lead in the space of three minutes following Scott Galloway's own goal and a chest-high volley from Adam Taggart.

Glory then sealed the win in the dying seconds when teenage debutant Joel Anasmo capitalised on a fast break to poke home the clincher.

There was drama after the match when Arslan was red-carded for what appeared to be dissent towards the referee.

He was likely still fuming at being left with a bloodied nose in the 63rd minute after copping an accidental swinging arm from Mustafa Amini.

Amini received a yellow card for the hit, but City coach Aurelio Vidmar questioned whether it should have been a red.

"You've seen red cards given probably for less incidents than that," Vidmar said.

"But they're in charge in the middle. They get the beauty of being able to watch replays a couple of times, so he deemed that it wasn't reckless or wasn't dangerous.

"An elbow is an elbow, but he didn't use it as a weapon, but rather a tool. Something like that anyway, according to the fourth official."

Adding to the drama of Arslan's red card was the fact that he might have been battling a concussion at the time.

Arslan was cleared to return to the pitch after copping the hit from Amini.

Thirteen minutes later, Arslan slumped to the turf in worrying fashion just moments after firing a shot into the post.

The referee called for immediate medical attention, with Arslan eventually able to get up and jog to the sidelines, before again being cleared to return to the pitch.

"I think the doctor said he potentially may have been concussed," Vidmar said after the match.

"He (Arslan) wanted to continue but I don't know. It's a medical thing. I'm not a doctor."

City hit the lead in the 21st minute in somewhat fortunate fashion, with Arslan's curling cross into the box sneaking under the leg of Glory defender Aleksandar Susnjar and going in for a goal.

Referee Shane Skinner pointed to the spot in first-half stoppage time when Glory attacker Bruce Kamau went down under tight attention from City defender Nuno Reis.

Amini stepped up to nail his second penalty in as many games.

City were back in the lead in the 60th minute following a calamitous back pass from Colli.

Jamie Maclaren picked off the pass and squared it to Arslan, who fired in the shot with only defender Darryl Lachman on the line.

Glory equalised in the 68th minute via an own goal from Galloway, who fired into his own net in an attempt to cut off a cross from David Williams.

Then in the 71st minute, Taggart pulled off a chest-heigh volley from close range at the back post following a smart cross from Daniel Bennie.

Glory goalkeeper Oliver Sail pulled off a series of stunning saves to ensure the home side kept the lead, and Anasmo added the icing on the cake in front of 5494 fans.
