Arshdeep Singh can be India's dependable left-arm pacer: Mohammad Amir

NEW DELHI: Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has expressed confidence in Arshdeep Singh potentially ending India's prolonged search for a dependable left-arm pacer.

India's quest for a consistent left-arm option in the pace department has seen several trials, and Amir believes Arshdeep could be the answer.

"Arshdeep can be a very good left-arm pacer. India needs one who can consistently bowl at 135-140," commented Amir during a virtual media interaction at the International League T20 event in Dubai.

Amir also acknowledged the commendable progress of Indian pacers, singling out Mohammed Siraj for praise.

"From the last two-three years, the most impressive has been Mohammed Siraj. The way he has improved in white-ball cricket is a good sign for Indian cricket," he added.

The former Pakistani speedster lauded India's rotation policy, emphasizing the positive impact it has on keeping the fast bowlers fresh. Amir expressed optimism about the future of Indian fast bowling, given the talented pool of bowlers.

Regarding his own future plans, Amir stated, "I've no plans to come back as of now."

Shifting focus to Pakistan's pace battery, Amir termed Naseem Shah as a "complete bowler" and lamented his absence during the World Cup due to injury.

He also discussed Shaheen Shah Afridi's post-injury struggles, expressing confidence that he will regain form with more game time.
