Arsene Wenger will have had a major impact on Mikel Arteta’s next signing for Arsenal. The Gunners are set to complete the signing of Fabio Vieira from FC Porto for a £34m fee.

This transfer had surprised many fans as a creative midfielder did not seem to be on the wishlist for the north London side this season, following the success of Martin Odegaard who is the main creative source for Arsenal.

However, Wenger showed during his tenure as the Arsenal boss that having multiple players who have the technical ability to create chances is crucial. Arteta’s insistence to re-install the Wenger culture back at Arsenal could be another explanation as to why Vieira is set to be signed.
