It is time to start getting ready for the new Premier League season. Yes, we know the old one has only just finished, but thoughts turn to the 2023/24 campaign when the fixtures for the entire campaign are announced.
That is happening today, with the fixtures due to be revealed at 9am for the entire season. Of cours,e matches are subject to change, due to European involvement for some and TV choices, but supporters can start preparing.
Fixture release day is one of the most highly anticipated dates in the football calendar and it marks the beginning of the countdown to the start of the new season. The 2023/24 campaign will kick off on Saturday, August 12, though the opening game will be a televised kick-off on the evening of Friday, August 11.
Last year, Tottenham were top of the table after the first game, with a 4-1 win over Southampton. Arsenal had beaten Crystal Palace 2-0 in the first game of the campaign on Friday night, with Chelsea also winning, 1-0 away at Everton.
So what will next season's first fixtures bring?
Well we decided to run a simulation to predict the opeing day fixtures and they threw up an absolute humdinger! The simulator has a North London Derby on the opening day of the campaign - Arsenal vs Tottenham, which is not likely to happen as the Premier League have rules around when the big matches are played.
Chelsea have also been handed a huge clash - away at Manchester United.
