Arsenal vs Real Betis LIVE

Arsenal have taken over Dublin as pre-season preparations continue with a friendly against Real Betis which kicks off at 7.30pm BST. The Gunners beat Spanish opposition in Girona at the weekend, claiming the Costa Brava trophy in the process, but should face a sterner test this evening with Betis winning four of their five games so far this summer.

Arsenal supporters are buzzing with excitement amid news that a deal has been agreed with Newcastle for Bruno Guimaraes, though the Brazilian has not signed in time to make his bow at the Aviva Stadium. Fellow Brazilians Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli, however, are expected to feature following a mandatory three week post-World Cup break as Mikel Arteta has seen his options increase significantly.

Manuel Pellegrini has added Fran Garcia to his Betis squad during the summer and can call upon some familiar names such as Isco, Anthony and Pablo Fornals this evening, but all eyes will be on Hector Bellerin facing his former club for the first time since leaving four years ago. Pictured: Vinicius Jr arrives for Real Madrid contract talks as Arsenal 'confidence grows'

Vinicius Jr has been pictured arriving for crucial contract talks with Real Madrid, as Arsenal wait to pounce.

The Spanish giants are keen to tie Vinicius down to fresh terms, with his current contract set to expire next summer.

The Brazil star currently earns around €17.5million a year, and is reportedly looking for closer to €30m to sign an extension.

According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid have offered around €22m annually as they look to reach a compromise with the player, who returned to pre-season training on Monday.

Le Journal du Real posted a video on X on Wednesday morning of Vinicius arriving at Real Madrid’s training ground, and was said to be accompanied by his representatives.

Why Newcastle will not get full Bruno Guimaraes transfer fee from Arsenal

17:55 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Lyon are set for a transfer windfall after Arsenal agreed a £75million fee with Newcastle for Bruno Guimaraes.

After weeks of discussions between intermediaries, a second bid has been accepted by Newcastle for their captain. The Gunners will reported pay the full fee up front, with no further performance-related add-ons due.

Ligue 1 side Lyon will have been assessing negotiations carefully, having inserted a transfer clause in the £38m deal which saw Guimaraes move to Newcastle in 2022.

Arsenal agree Bruno Guimaraes deal

17:50 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Arsenal have agreed a deal with Newcastle for Bruno Guimaraes.

Arsenal are expected to pay £75m for the Brazilian midfielder after submitting a second bid, having seen a first offer rejected on Monday.

Guimaraes will now be expected to undergo a medical later this week before wrapping up a move to north London. Personal terms are said to have been agreed for some time.

Predicted Arsenal XI

17:45 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Mikel Arteta was cautious with Piero Hincapie, Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres in the win over Girona, withdrawing the trio after 30 minutes and could repeat the trick with Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli against Betis.

Ben White came through 60 minutes unscathed on his return from a knee injury, but could be rested due to that being his first appearance in three months. Youngster Marli Salmon is an option at right-back with Jurrien Timber doubtful.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is due back this week after his post-World Cup holiday but is unlikely to be involved against Betis due to a lack of training, therefore Ethan Nwaneri should get a chance to impress in midfield once again.

Predicted Arsenal XI: Kepa; Salmon, Mosquera, Gabriel, Calafiori; Lewis-Skelly, Nwaneri, Havertz; Dowman, Gyokeres, Martinelli.

Hector Bellerin: 'Leaving Arsenal was scary'

17:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Hector Bellerin could, this evening, face Arsenal for the first time since leaving on a permanent transfer nearly four years ago.

In an interview with the Guardian, the Spaniard has opened up on the difficult decision to leave a club he had spent a decade with.

He said: “There’s not a specific reason. Something happened but it’s not a thing; it’s more that there’s a kind of disconnect in which I felt that I could no longer help the club and the club could no longer help me.

"We managed that in the most amicable way. Maybe I needed to be close to my roots, home. It had been a long time. When you leave a club like Arsenal, it’s scary, eh.

"Scary. It hurts, mate: look, however much you know that your moment is over, it was your home. You were there for 10 years, you leave friends behind, a life … you don’t know what you are going to find on the other side. I was lucky.”

Remarkably, this will be the first-ever meeting between Arsenal and Real Betis at any level.

Score prediction

17:20 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Real Betis should provide a much sterner test for Arsenal than Girona did at the weekend. Their form in pre-season suggests they will pose questions for the Gunners defensively.

For Mikel Arteta’s side, it’s all about getting players up to match sharpness. That said, we expect Arsenal to be too strong with the likes of Max Dowman, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Christos Tzolis out to impress again.

Arsenal to win, 3-1.

Real Betis team news

17:15 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

The Real Betis squad features many familiar faces including Junior Firpo, Pablo Fornals, Isco and former Manchester United winger Anthony.

However, the game will be a special one for Hector Bellerin as he is set to come up against his former club for the first time since leaving permanently in 2022.

Arsenal team news: Brazilians to feature

17:10 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne

Gabriel and Gabriel Martinelli could make their first appearances of the summer after being left out of the squad to face Girona because of being late to join up with the squad.

Elsewhere, Mikel Arteta may look to increase the workload for Kai Havertz, Viktor Gyokeres and Piero Hincapie after the trio were replaced after half an hour at the weekend as part of pre-planned changes.

Christian Norgaard is rumoured to be closing in on a move to Everton, so is unlikely to feature here, while the game is likely to come too soon for captain Martin Odegaard.
