Arsenal vs Brentford latest as Storm Eunice causes travel chaos amid red warning for London

Arsenal are set to welcome Brentford to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon in a repeat of the opening day of the season.

The Gunners were humbled by Thomas Frank's side on that occasion but have bounced back impressively in the months since, with a place in the top four now a realistic ambition.

Brentford on the other hand have stuttered somewhat and with 25 matches played now find themselves sat just seven points above the drop zone.

One added factor heading into this clash is the weather, however, as Storm Eunice continues to batter London with winds getting as fast as 80mph in the capital.

Mikel Arteta even revealed that he was forced to alter some of his training plans because of the adverse conditions.

"We had to change the session. It was too windy to do what we wanted to do so we had to adapt and do one part inside and one part outside," Arteta told his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"We were safe which is the most important thing and we managed to do some bits."

But Arsenal were not alone in having their session disrupted.

At his own pre-match press conference, Brentford boss Frank said: "We have a nice open training ground and it’s been quite windy. We did prep, some boxes, and some small-sided games to get it going. Suddenly one of the goals was moving so after round six I cut it and we went in."

There has been speculation that games in the capital could even be called off because of the weather, although at the time of writing all appear set to go ahead.

In the Championship, Bournemouth's clash with Nottingham Forest on the South Coast was postponed on Friday ahead of the evening kick-off.

Transport could well be an issue, however, as power continues to be affected by the storm.

Trains across the country have been cancelled or face severe delays. At present the London Underground remains largely unaffected but that could chance ahead of kick-off.
