Arsenal urged to sign Cristiano Ronaldo as perfect Gabriel Jesus strike partner in title race

Arsenal have been urged to make a move for Cristiano Ronaldo in the transfer window as a way to secure the Premier League title. It comes after the Portuguese international's outburst over his current side Manchester United that could possibly mean the end of his second spell at the club.

The striker was left out of the squad earlier in the season for leaving the bench and the stadium early against Tottenham, but his recent interview with Piers Morgan claimed that manager Erik ten Hag and others around the club are trying to force him out. He said in an article for the Sun: "Not only the coach, but the other two or three guys around the club. I felt betrayed."

"I don't know what's going on. Since Sir Alex Ferguson left I have seen not evolution in the club," He continued. "The progress was zero. For example, an interesting point is how a club like Manchester United sacked Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer], they bring in a sporting director Ralf Rangnick which is something nobody understands. This guy is not even a coach! A big club like Manchester United bringing in a sporting director surprised not only me but all the world."

It remains to be seen exactly how the situation is handled by Manchester United, who now have over one month without match action due to the World Cup. However similar scenarios, such as Romelu Lukaku's interview while at Chelsea and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's disciplinary concerns at Arsenal, have often led to a player leaving the club after.

Should the 37-year-old be available, the Gunners have been urged to sign him alongside striker Gabriel Jesus by Piers Morgan himself as a way to fire them to the title. Responding to another tweet claiming he would want to sign the forward at Arsenal, he replied: "Yes, actually. He’s exactly what we need.. @Cristiano & @gabrieljesus9 would take us to the title."

It comes amid a period where the Gunners have skyrocketed up the Premier League to sit first at the break for the World Cup, putting them firmly in the title picture. There have been recent questions over whether Jesus' goal-scoring form would be enough to challenge deep into the campaign, though Ronaldo may not fit the current model and transfer strategy of the club, even despite his record for goals.
