Reported Arsenal transfer target Victor Osimhen has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero is his toughest ever opponent.
Napoli forward Osimhen has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium over the last few months as Mikel Arteta and co. continue their search for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's replacement, with Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette also both into the final five months of their contracts with the club.
Now, the Nigeria international has hailed a player from the Gunners' local rivals Spurs, in the form of centre-back Romero.
When asked by Football Italia, who his toughest ever opponent was, Osimhen said: “[Cristian] Romero, who is now at Tottenham.
"He was always faster than me every time we faced each other. The other one is Kalidou Koulibaly, he never let me score in training.
"When Nigeria were eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations, I supported Senegal."
Romero has endured a difficult debut campaign with the Lillywhites, spending a large stretch of the season on the treatment table.
However, the tough-tackling Argentine is now fully fit and delivered an excellent display on Saturday evening as Antonio Conte's side defeated Brighton 3-1 in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
After the game, Conte admitted that it was great to have both Romero and South Korean forward Son Heung-Min back in the squad following their respective fitness problems.
"It was good news for us", the former Chelsea boss said when asked about Son in particular. "Sonny is an important player for us. He’s decisive. He knows that very well.
"Today I wanted to give him 65-70 minutes because when you come back after injury, I prefer in a week when we have three games, to manage very well Son and also Romero.
"Because after serious injury, to have them back was good news but also we have to try to manage them very well and not take risk because they’re important players for us."
