Arsenal transfer round-up: Gunners offered Trossard as Arteta calls for "discipline"

Mikel Arteta's men are flying high at the top of the Premier League following Arsenal's 2-0 away win over fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

In turn, the Gunners now boast an eight-point lead over nearest challengers Manchester City, but even Arsenal in their current form can't evade transfer disappoinment of their own. After a long, drawn out saga, priority target Mykhaylo Mudryk has snubbed Arteta's advances to join London rivals Chelsea.

The Ukrainian international was unveiled to the Stamford Bridge faithful before the Blues' 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, confirming Arsenal's search will have to continue if they are to strengthen on what they currently have before the end of the month.

With that in mind, Mirror Football has analysed three major transfer talking points surrounding the table-topping Gunners.

With Mudryk now out of the picture, Arteta has to try and identify some new targets that he feels can offer his side something new out on the attacking flanks.

Arsenal spent much of last summer keeping tabs on Brazilian international Raphinha while he was at Leeds United but the winger eventually opted to join Barcelona.

Given the Blaugrana's precarious financial situation, Arsenal had reportedly hoped they could try and lure the wide-man away from the Camp Nou but those hopes have been dashed quickly.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim Raphinha has no desire to leave Barcelona during the January transfer window despite a difficult start to life at the club.

Trossard offered to Arsenal

Brighton ace Leandro Trossard has made clear to the Seagulls hierarchy he wants out after a breakdown in his relationship with new boss Roberto De Zerbi.

According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign the Belgium international and Arteta is rumoured to be keen on the idea.

The Gunners will have to fend off interest from rivals Tottenham in the process, with Antonio Conte's men already having one bid for Trossard rejected after it failed to meet Brighton's valuation of the wide-forward.

Spurs offered up £12m, but Arsenal are thought to have been informed it would take at least £25m to tempt De Zerbi's side into parting ways with 28-year-old Trossard.

Arteta calls for transfer discipline

The Arsenal boss has insisted his side need to "discipline and be consistent" in regards to their dealings for the rest of the January transfer window.

Speaking after the victory over Tottenham and Mudryk's unveiling as a Chelsea player, the Spaniard explained: "I am very proud to have the players we have. We always want to try and improve the squad.

"The club are the first to try and improve the players we have. We have to have some discipline and be consistent in the targets we have. We can make the players better, let's focus on that."
