Arsenal transfer round-up: Gunners act on ‘golden opportunity’ as Isco move eyed

Arsenal are ready to swoop into action once the January transfer window opens in order to sign the appropriate players to help maintain their Premier League title push.

The Gunners must now prioritise a new striker following the long-term injury to Gabriel Jesus and they are ready to act on a ‘golden opportunity’ to snap up one of the most in-demand forwards in Europe. Elsewhere, a decision will be made over the signing of a Spanish midfielder, while one Arsenal star could be set to depart in January.

Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest transfer stories coming out of the Emirates Stadium…

Gunners recognise ‘golden opportunity’

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid striker Joao Felix in January and are now ready to act upon the ‘golden opportunity’ to sign the Portuguese international.

With Jesus out for three months following surgery on a knee injury, the Gunners are left with Eddie Nketiah as their only striker. While the England youngster is more than capable of producing in the Premier League, the Gunners can’t rely on him to win them the title, meaning a top class striker is also needed.

And according to AS, Arsenal are ‘moving up in the race’ to sign Felix as they don’t want to let a ‘golden opportunity’ pass them by. The Gunners have realised that sitting at the top of the Premier League gives them the best possible chance of snapping up the 23-year-old.

Arsenal interested in Sevilla flop

While signing a striker is essential, Arsenal are also on the lookout for a new midfielder and have identified former Real Madrid and current Sevilla playmaker Isco as a potential candidate.

The former Spain international became one of the best midfielders in the world during his time with Los Blancos, racking up 53 goals and 56 assists across 353 appearances in all competitions to help them win 19 trophies - including three La Liga and five Champions League ’s.

But having played a full 90 minutes on just five occasions all season, Sevilla are now looking to offload him in the January, according to The Sun, and will accept any offer from a top club that meets their requirement - putting Arsenal on red alert.

Fulham make Cedric enquiries

Arsenal right back Cedric Soares could be on the move in January following renewed interest in his services from London rivals Fulham.

The Cottagers made enquiries over the Portuguese defender during the summer and according to Sky Sports, manager Marco Silva has returned once more as he looks for a replacement for the underwhelming Kevin Mbabu.

The 31-year-old has barely tasted action in the current campaign, with just two appearances all season, and is said to be willing to depart the Emirates Stadium to find regular first team football. With Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu ahead of him in the pecking order, his future in north London looks bleak.
