Arsenal transfer round-up: Amadou Onana hands Gunners £50m boost as Juventus bid lodged

Arsenal could be set to have a busy few final days of the January transfer window with Mikel Arteta eyeing more signings.

The Spanish coach has already expressed his desire to add midfield depth to his squad following the injury sustained by Egypt star Mohamed Elneny. Whether that is possible remains to be seen but the Gunners will certainly be trying their hardest to get a new face through the door.

Arsenal have already spent just under £50m this window with the signings of Leandro Trossard and Jakub Kiwior. Take a look at the latest transfer rumours from the Emirates Stadium below:

Onana hands Gunners boost

One surprise option that emerged for a potential midfield signing this January was Everton star Amadou Onana. Arsenal are reportedly interested in him alongside Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Considering Todd Boehly’s financing of a huge spend at Stamford Bridge this season, that claim might well have caused concern for the Gunners. But according to Het Nieuwsblad, the 21-year-old has already rejected a move to Chelsea.

Whether that leaves the door open for Arsenal to complete a deal before the end of the transfer window remains to be seen but it will certainly be a huge boost for the Gunners to learn there is now less competition for his services.

Arsenal lodge McKennie ‘offer’

Continuing their search for midfield recruits, Arsenal have also reportedly tabled an offer for Juventus and USA star Weston McKennie. According to La Repubblica, the midfielder’s agent has been in London attempting to negotiate a move away from Turin amid the Serie A club’s current financial mire.

It is suggested that he is closing in on a move to the Premier League but as it stands, his destination is unclear. Leeds have made an offer for him, whilst it is also suggested that the Gunners have followed suit with a bid of their own.

La Repubblica report Arsenal have tabled an offer of close to €30m (£26.3m) in an effort to sign him. McKennie has made 21 appearances for Juventus so far this season.

Arteta rebuffs Sambi Lokonga bid

Away from arrivals, Arsenal have already made the decision not to let some of their current midfield options leave the club. According to the Daily Mail, Ligue 1 giants Monaco approached the North London side with a loan offer for Albert Sambi Lokonga.

The Belgian has struggled for consistency since his arrival from Anderlecht. Arteta is keen for him to remain at the Emirates Stadium though and turned Monaco’s offer down relatively swiftly.

Lokonga, 23, has made 38 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal since his arrival but has made just two Premier League starts this term.
